Mark Slater

Co-founder and CEO

Mark is the founder of Pingup and has served as the company’s CEO since its inception. Mark is focused on securing Pingup’s leadership position through key partnerships while creating a culture of execution in the office. Prior to Pingup, Mark was a founding member of Karmaloop, and worked for a time at CMGi. He left London (his hometown) to attend Boston University and he is a fully committed “Old Malburian.”

Ron Braunfeld

VP Business Development

Ron is an experienced Sales/BD professional with deep knowledge of the mobile and internet ecosystem. Most recently Ron was President of SnipSnap, the first mobile app to allow a consumer to scan, save and redeem printed coupons on the go. In just over a year and a half, it has become the fastest growing coupon app on iOS and Android – approaching four million users with 70mm coupons snipped and saving consumers over $200mm. Previous to SnipSnap, Ron had high level business development roles at PayPal Media Network, WHERE, and MapQuest.

Jeffrey Caron

VP Finance and Ops

Prior to joining the company, he spent several years as a high yield bond analyst for Fidelity Investments covering the technology and leisure sectors. While researching and analyzing companies was intellectually stimulating, his entrepreneurial spirit could not resist the temptation of being part of a rapidly growing startup like Pingup. He hasn’t looked back since.

Dan Gilmartin

CMO, Head of Product

Dan has a passion for leveraging data to improve user experience and marketing outcomes. Having successfully led teams through high-growth periods and implementing strategies, he now applies these skills to his role as CMO and Head of Product at Pingup. Before joining Pingup, Dan help senior leadership roles in product and marketing at BlueConic, PayPal, WHERE, and Sprint. Dan is an active angel investor and advisor to many Boston-area startups. Outside of work, he likes to spend time with his wife and two kids, fish, golf and cook.

Ben Sack

Chief Scientist

Ben is a full-stack software developer specializing in cluster computing, machine learning, data mining, and artificial intelligence. He has worked with clients such as Bank of America, the New England Patriots, HSBC, Merck, Harvard University, and the State of California. As the 80th person to sign-up for Facebook, he has one of the longest dormant profiles on record. Ben’s a Graduate of Harvard University and a Hoopes Prize winner.

Nermin Šerifović


Nermin has been building software backend platforms for almost 15 years. Most recently, as an independent consultant, he was helping various clients with adopting latest technologies, improving their architecture and design, and hands-on development. In his spare time, Nermin teaches the Concurrent Programming in Scala course at Harvard Extension School and is a co-author of the Scala Puzzlers book. He is the organizer of the local Scala user group and holds an M.Eng. in Computer Science from Cornell University.

Matt Ciampa

Director of Analytics

Matt started his career in commercial real estate but always wanted to apply the analytical skills from his background in finance and economics in a startup environment. He remains involved with his alma mater The University of Maine, where he co-founded a business plan competition for student entrepreneurs.

Michael Vaites

VP Engineering

Michael Vaites is full stack software engineer with extensive experience in software development and management. He is an advocate for writing modular code with a solid architecture using good design patterns. He has a degree in computer science from WPI and now lives in Walpole MA. Prior to joining Pingup, Michael has held many roles at Imagitas, Recommind, MDconnectME, Yellowbook and TNS Media Intelligence. He has many other engineering hobbies such as designing / installing his patio and rebuilding his car’s engine in his garage.

Justin Taylor

Business Development

Prior to joining Pingup, Justin worked as national sales manager for a start up soccer shoe company and sales director for AMC Outdoors magazine. A Boston/South Shore native, Justin attended college in New Hampshire and has also lived in Montana and New York.

Jennifer Jermantowicz

UX Designer

Jennifer is a user experience designer and developer with a background in storytelling and illustration. After graduating from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, she started her career as a freelancer and has continued to advance her skills in the startup world. When Jennifer is not designing user-friendly interfaces, you’ll find her baking something delicious or working on her next novel.

Eric Grigorian

Software Engineer

Eric is a software engineer, with a background in frontend development. He graduated in 2015 from the University of Massachusetts Boston, and has built a diverse background working for established companies such as Constant Contact and Kronos. In his free time, you can find Eric working on one of his many side projects, or planning his next trip.

Amit Banne

Software Engineering Co-op/Intern

Amit is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Computer Science at Northeastern University, Boston. He is keen to pursue a career in Software Engineering, Full- Stack development, and Big Data. Outside of work, he likes traveling, hiking, and is an arduent soccer fan.
