The start of a new year is the perfect opportunity to reflect on what your business has achieved. It’s also a fantastic time to establish new goals and challenge yourself to grow your business in new ways. Here at Pingup, we talk to a lot of small business owners. We often share these digital marketing recommendations as good starting points for improving your business presence online.
1 – Pay attention to where your customers look for your business.
Most people now use online search as their first source for basic business information like hours, location and phone number. If they can’t find your business online, they might think that you’re closed. Try searching for your business on several online directories and see what the results look like. Make sure that your business shows up and that all of the information is correct. If your business doesn’t appear in search results, you need to create business listings.
2 – Get started with social media.
Social media can seem overwhelming, but it’s actually very easy. Offering a promotion at your business? Send out a quick tweet. Did you add a new service to you menu? Tell Facebook how great it is with a photo and a short message. Don’t worry about how often you post. Instead, post whenever you have something that you think customers would find interesting.
3 – Make sure that your business is actionable online.
When people look for your business, they probably also have an action in mind. If you’re a home repair business, they might want to contact you for an estimate. If you’re a salon, they might want to ask for a haircut tomorrow. A majority of consumers say that the option to book online is either expected or sets the business apart.1 When people find your business online, they want the instant satisfaction of completing that action.
Those are the top three resolutions that we recommend for small businesses. What New Year’s resolutions are you making for your business?
